You’ve been through your treatment program!

You’re ready to enter back into your “real” life.

You felt confident when you left, but now you’re anxious that you don’t have the skills or support to handle the life challenges, work, and relationship dynamics out in everyday life.

You’ve got a good therapist and practices like yoga and meditation. But somehow, when faced with past triggers, those old feelings are resurfacing and you feel too anxious to meditate.

And if you’ve been self-soothing with substances for a period of time, you haven’t felt your body for years or decades, perhaps.

You may be feeling aches and pains for the first time in years.

It’s hard to work with your own mindset when your body hurts.

What does anxiety feel like in your body?

Do you have constriction in your throat, chest, not being able to get deep breaths, a rock in your belly.

Maybe you feel neck and shoulder pain or lower back pain or hip pain

Do you have an overall feeling of not being safe?

Fibromyalgia, migraines? Do your hands shake or sweat?

Addiction is self-soothing.

When you’re feeling anxious and unsafe, it’s very hard to meditate and “think positively”. Talking about how you feel with someone you trust helps you co-regulate, but it doesn’t address the issue at the root — in your body.

What if you could clearly experience what “safe” feels like?

With Somatic work, we first find a way for you to feel the “felt sense” of safety in your body. We work with patterns of stress and anxiety and help you feel heavy and grounded in your feet, legs, and pelvis.

From that safe base, you’ll find your shoulders and back soften and the unconsciously held tension patterns “let go.”

You have freedom and easy movement through your torso, and standing is effortless. You feel taller and grounded at the same time.

Slow, gentle, small movements.

We work with your nervous system while making small, gentle, slow movements with your body on the treatment table. We don’t force or have an agenda — we listen to and respect the pace and limits of your nervous system.

When your nervous system feels heard, your muscle tension releases…almost spontaneously.

You’ll remember what it’s like to feel safe and confident in your body.

Your face is lighter and you have a sense of well-being you didn’t believe you could feel.

As you experience feeling safe and empowered, you find clarity in your thinking and can begin to think and plan your life clearly.

We work slowly and at the pace of your nervous system.

We find the tools that you feel most connected to and practice using these so that when you’re in the “real” world, you have resources to help you self-soothe in a healing way

Once resourced and armed with tools that you can practice easily, we dive deeper, using Somatic Experiencing and table work — whatever is appropriate for your unique nervous system and body.

I share nervous system education and somatic tools and practices you’ve been missing so that you can feel informed and empowered to heal the emotional wounds that prolong the challenging behaviors and habits that have caused you to struggle.

I use an integrated body and mind approach to help support you connect your whole being!
